Three pastors, one UMCN member jailed for spying on Police

The three accused Pastors and one member of the United Methodist Church In Nigeria (UMCN) that were remanded in the National Correctional Center by a Magistrate Court in Jalingo for allegedly spying on the property of the Nigerian Police Force, Taraba State Police Command have been granted bail.

The accused clargymen and one member were on the 22nd June, 2021 remanded at the National Correctional Center for breaching the “National Official Secret Act” of photographing the Nigerian Police headquarters and some sensitive locations in the state Command and attaching same photographs to foreign partners of the Church.

In the second hearing of the case, Magistrate Bartholome Vakkai Kaigama, who granted bail to the accused persons at the Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed National Industrial/Magistrate Court Jalingo, said the accused persons will be granted bail if they meet the condition of the bail.

He informed that the accused persons will be granted bail with the following conditions, the accused persons will deposit their International Passports to the Court, pending the determination of case by the court.

Others include, that the accused persons will not travel out of the state for more than three weeks without notifying the court and that each of the accused persons must provide two guarantors who must be landlords within Jalingo metropolis and would pay the sum of two hundred thousand naira in an event that any of the accused is goes missing.

Magistrate Kaigama, however adjourned the case to 19th of July, 2021 for the next hearing of the case, noting that the ensense of adjourning the case is to allow the police carryout their investigations.

Northeast Zone FRCN FM stations to benefit from brand new equipments

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, FM stations in the Northeast Zone, are to benefit from brand new equipment that will boost their transmission capacity to disseminate the right information to Nigerians.

The FRCN Director Engineering Services, Engineer Sanda Askira made this known while addressing participants at a training organised by the Northeast Zone Engineering Sub-Directorate held at the NUJ Secretariat in Bauchi.

Engineer Askira who said the equipment include a ten KVA transmitter for Globe FM Bauchi, under the Federal Government intervention and two, five KVA Transmitters, two Generating Sets as well as other gadgets were secured through a support from the North East Development Commission, NEDC.

While restating commitment of the Director General of the corporation to reposition FRCN Engineer Askira assured that installation would commence by September this year.

In a Keynote address, the FRCN North East Zonal Director, Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi Maikano challenged Engineering Staff of the zone to be up and doing to safeguard all existing equipment and those to be provided for their stations to comepete favourably with others.

Alhaji Yahaya Maikano who emphasized the importance of engineering services in Radio stations, called on the participants to fully concentrate so as to offer their own best in the field.

In a good will message, the General Manager Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi Mohammed Aminu Abdullahi who spoke on behalf of other General Managers in the zone expressed appreciation to the Director General FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman for his exemplary leadership and pledged to judiciously utilize the equipment.

The Northeast Zonal Station is situated in Bauchi controlling, Globe FM Bauchi, Jewel FM Gombe, Fombina FM Yola, Peace FM Maiduguri, Sunshine FM Damaturu and Gift FM Jalingo.

COAS laud Traditional rulers for containing Boko Haram Insurgency

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouq Yahaya has commended traditional rulers for the role they are playing in containing the violence of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.

General Yahaya made the commendation when he led Principal Staff Officers from the Army headquarters, Theatre Commander and General Officer Commanding 7 Division on a courtesy  visit to the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi at his Palace in Maiduguri.

The Army Chief informed the monarch that he is on operational visit to Theater of Operation Hadin Kai to assess the ongoing war against insurgency.

He explained that the support of Shehu of Borno and the entire Emirate led to some of the successes recorded in the operations.

“Your effort has yielded several results in talking to people and many of them have opened up and are giving us vital information and supporting our activities and operations including those who support us with prayers and intelligence “.

Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi congratulated the Chief of Army on his appointment.

He commended the military for securing the state, emphasising that no local government area in the state is under the control of the insurgents.

The Shehu however requested the Army Chief to allow people in liberated areas engage in farming and fishing activities, reopen Maiduguri-Damboa road and secure some of the highways for business activities to thrive.

“We want you to see that attention is given some of the highways, especially stationing new camp at places like Mile 40, because if we have facilities, officers and men there, definitely the road will be safe “.

Shehu Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi urged people of the state to continue to cooperate with the military and offer prayers for lasting peace in the state and the entire county.

Buhari pledges action on Niger Delta environmental degradation

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a Chairman, and an Executive Secretary for the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA).

According to a statement signed by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity Femi Adesina The Chairman is Mr Atuonwo A. Obinna, while the Executive Secretary is Mr Abdulkadir Saidu, reappointed for another four years.

The statement explained that the appointment of Mr Atuonwo Obinna as Chairman Governing Board for a four-year term is in accordance with Section 2 (1-3) and 3 (a) of the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (Establishment, ETC) Act 2003.

Kebbi Court remands two for adultery, fornication

Kebbi State Magistrate Court One, has ordered for one Mr Onyebuchi Okafor an Igbo tribe and Miss Mansura Shehu Hausa tribe to be remanded in prison custody until 5th July  2021 for committing adultery and fornication.

The Presiding Judge, Cheif Magistrate Kakale Mungadi, said that, the two accused persons should be remanded in prison custody pending the investigation by the Police prosecutor.

“According to section 206 of Kebbi State law, the two accused persons have committed adultery”.

In his prayer, the counsel to the accused person Mr. Magnus ihejirika who requested for a bail for allowing him file a bail motion was denied by the judge.

According to the Police prosecutor, Inspector Jibril Abba, said the accused person, Mr. Pandora has been an Ex-convict, therefore the court should not grant him a bail until the investigation is completed.

“I urge this ordinary court not to accept the bail as the accused person had been indicted severally in committing crimes”.

During court interrogation, the accused person who denied committing the crime while the 1st responded Miss Shehu agreed to have committed the offence, requesting for Justice as she has delivered baby girl last Sunday.
