“Nigerians, irrespective of political, social and cultural differences need to support each other to entrench national unity and cohesion.” The National Chairman of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni stated this in his Eid-al-Adha message to Nigerians.

Governor Buni said the period of Eid-el-Kabir, calls for a deep reflection into the lessons of devotion, sacrifice and obedience as exemplified by the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ismail.

He added that imbibing the virtues of love, honesty, sacrifice and being our brother’s keepers would cement the cracks in Nigeria’s national unity, peace and progress. “This occasion teaches love, sacrifice, honesty, generosity and above all, the fear of God. There is great strength in our diversity.

“I wish to appeal to privileged persons to imbibe the lessons of this occasion to support less privileged persons,” Governor Buni said.

Governor Buni also assured Nigerians of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the country. He appealed to citizens not to politicise security matters.

“It is a common problem that should be fought collectively and defeated for the common good of the country.

“I appeal to Nigerians to support, cooperate and encourage the security operatives in their patriotic duty of ensuring security and safety across the country,” Buni said.

According to the APC Chairman, the party would execute its programmes as scheduled with every sense of commitment and patriotism.

“The Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee would ensure the programmes of the party are meticulously executed with every member given a sense of belonging.

“We are committed to building a strong political party that would stand the test of time to win elections and make us all proud,” Governor Buni said.

The Progressive Governors Forum, PGF said this in a press statement signed by its Chairman and the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. Governor Bagudu also welcomed the Governor of Zamafara state, Bello Matawalle who recently decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the APC.

The PGF Chairman said Governor Matawalle’s defection to the APC shows the party’s capacity to mobilise and unite all Nigerians. Governor Bagudu added that the APC is open to any Nigerian who supports President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of moving the country forward.

“Our party is open to all Nigerians who are committed to the progress of our country. We, in the Forum, shall continue to mobilise and welcome all those who have a shared vision of supporting President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s agenda to consolidate the progress made and further unify our fellow patriots across the country. We urge all party leaders and members to continue mobilisation and welcome all those who join us. Our party is equitable, and its strength lies in the appreciation of all Nigerians.

“APC represent the future of Nigerian democracy, which is all about negotiations, consultations and winning agreements. Processes of negotiations and consultations will continue to serve as the basis of engagement with all leaders, members and by extension all Nigerians in line with provisions of our party’s constitution and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. The guiding philosophy as enshrined in the provisions of our manifesto will produce landmark agreements that would facilitate economic, social and political development of Nigeria,” he said.

The Progressive Governors commended President Buhari whom they said makes APC attractive to people.
They also commended the APC National Caretaker Committee for their leadership qualities that have motivated Nigerians to join the party.

“We celebrate our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose exceptional political virtues, and fair dispositions makes our party, APC, attractive to all patriotic Nigerians. These sterling attributes of Mr President will continue to promote our party to serve as the main source of our electoral advantage. Progressive Governors will continue to support Mr President to build our party, APC, as a strong and democratic political party in the country.

“More than at another time, our members of the APC National Caretaker Extraordinary/Convention Planning Committee under the leadership of His Excellency Mai Mala Buni have continued to raise the standards of political mobilisation in the country. At a time when politics is almost equated to warfare, they have been able to skillfully demonstrate that winning the minds of citizens is all about negotiations and winning agreements.

“They have been able to win landmark agreements that bring accomplished political leaders into APC, based on which the structures of our great party are being redefined. With these agreements, milestone achievements are being recorded almost on a daily basis and experienced leaders, such as Engr. Dave Umahi, Prof. Ben Ayade, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole and now Alh. Bello Matawalle, among many others, has joined our great party” they said.

A former Gubernatorial Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Mr. Jibrin Muhammad Danbarde has formally defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

Speaking to journalists in Gombe, Danbarde said he defected since February 2021, when the APC was revalidating the membership of the party.

Danbarde said he decided to leave the APC because of what he referred to as Bad Governance in the state, where the people were not carried along.

According to Barde, the PDP would form the government in the state in 2023, because its members are legitimate sons and daughters of the state, who are competent and credible, with integrity and irrefutable character and well prepared to takeover governance of the state in 2023.

He said the PDP was prepared to protect the sacred traditional institution in the state. “PDP is the best party that we know in the state. It has the followership, it has credible people of irrefutable character, integrity, and therefore, I want to pass this message very clear that we are prepared to take over governance, and we have enough credible people that will take over governance of the state come 2023.”

For the Chairman of the PDP in Gombe State, Rtd Major General Abnor Kwaskebe, said the PDP was on the march ahead because it had realised its past mistakes that drove some of its members from the party, but had corrected them, which was now making  them now return.

PDP is Gombe State and Gombe State is PDP. If you make a mistake and you did not correct it, that means you have been defeated. But if you make a mistake and you work relentlessly to correct, then you are out to win. We realised our shortcomings and we have corrected them and our people are coming back home. He is one out of so many that are on their way coming. Some have come we are going to formalise their return very soon,” said Kwaskebe.

He said the party had a formidable structure in place to guarantee its victory in the 2023 election, starting from the grassroots right up to the state level, while also working in synergy with party members in other states so as to have the needed strength to guarantee them victory.

APC mobilises members to participate in INEC continuous voter registration

Nigeria’s governing party,  the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its members to take advantage of the ongoing  Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) online Continuous Voter Registration exercise to register and get their Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC.

In a press statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, the party also advised its members to ensure that they complete the process at designated centres.

According to the APC, it is only by getting the PVC that their members can support the party leaders to continue the ongoing efforts of APC governments to make Nigeria better.

“We want to remind members that the Permanent Voters’ Card is the only legal instrument voters can use to elect leaders who can sustain the national ongoing efforts of APC governments at the Federal, State and Local Government Areas to sustain its successes in renewing national infrastructure, transforming agriculture and diversifying the economy.

“APC members across the country should equip themselves with the voters’ cards to enable them to vote in several forthcoming by-elections and other staggering elections culminating in the 2023 general elections.

“New voters can pre-register on the INEC portal,  while those who have registered in the past can access the platform to review their voter registration status. Some of the features on the portal allow registered voters to update their personal information or transfer their voter registration to another polling unit. Registered voters can also request for replacement of damaged or defaced Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) on the portal.

“Meanwhile, new voters are only required to fill and upload their forms on the portal after entering their biodata and required documents, after which they are expected to visit an INEC state or local government office to provide their fingerprints before July 19th to complete the registration and obtain their voter’s cards,” APC said.
