I’ll deal with members of APC, opposition making Imo ungovernable – Uzodinma vows

Published

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has threatened to deal with those making the state ungovernable for him.

The Governor accused aggrieved members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the opposition party of fighting his government.

Uzodinma said this at the inauguration of a security council at the grassroots level to proffer solutions to the state’s security challenges.

“The opposition party and some aggrieved members of our party who are hiring boys from neighbouring states to come in here, allow me, I will deal with them. I can assure you, leave that for me,” Uzodinma said.

The Governor vowed to deal with the people who, according to him, are threatening him and his administration, adding that “they will be ungovernable themselves.”

Uzodinma called on traditional rulers in the state to help in the fight against insecurity, urging them to fish out criminals in their domains.

“I had advised that traditional rulers should warn these boys,” the governor added.

“You should warn them because I am bringing a security strategy, known and unknown, to manage the security In Imo State.

“This council must now go home and get us the names of every criminal in their communities,” he said. “You must collect intelligence for us and security agencies to work. ”

Ayade not the last PDP governor to join APC, others on their way – Mustapha

Published

on

Former National Deputy Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Alhaji Saliu Mustapha, has declared that Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State is not the last Governor of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that will join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mustapha made this disclosure while speaking with journalists on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

DAILY POST recalls that Ayade had last month dumped the PDP and joined the APC.

Mustapha, who is a close ally to President Muhamadu Buhari has, however, said that Ayade is not the last Governor of PDP that will join APC.

The APC chieftain while speaking, noted that more PDP governors who have concluded plans to join APC will soon announce their defection to APC.

He hinted on the possibility of the defection of more Governors elected on the platform of PDP to APC any time soon.

Mustapha, who had earlier declared his interest to contest as National Chairman of APC, also revealed that other top political office holders will follow the Governors to join APC.

“Governor Ben Ayade is not the last governor that will join the APC. You’ll be surprised that more governors will also come to the light in the coming days.

Nigeria cannot survive another civil war – Mustapha warns

“Take my words for it, there are many more governors who have advanced their talks with the party national leadership. Apart from Governors, there are other big fishes in the polity that are porting soon.”

“So, the question that should agitate your minds is, if the APC is all that unattractive as naysayers are painting, why are all these big guns trooping into the party?

“You can connect the dots. There is no politician of means in this clime that will open his or her own eyes wide open and join a sinking ship. It is both too expensive and unrewarding to do.

“He boldly faced the camera for it. We all listened to him. You see, people like Gov. Ayade do not belong in the PDP. He is too decent a man, too progressive minded, too cosmopolitan to be in the PDP. And that is why he was stifled so hard in the PDP. And like I said in my public reaction to his defection, APC will be more than just a home for him. It will also be an ideological pathway for him. I trust that he and a multitude of Cross-Riverians will begin to see
the difference in the days ahead.

“Be that as it may, if people say Governor Ben Ayade joined our party because of the delisting of oil wells, is Ebonyi State also an oil-producing state? Invariably, there is something noteworthy these individuals have seen that propelled their intention to camp with us.”

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended two governorship aspirants from its platform.

The two aspirants, Mrs Jumoke Anifowose-Ajasin and Dr Nathaniel Adojutelegan participated in the primaries that produced Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the party’s candidate during the October 10, 2020 election.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Alex Kalejaiye, said the duo were expelled for anti-party activities.

Kalejaiye emphasized that the decision of the party was in conformity with Article 21 of the APC Constitution.

In January 2021, the party in Igboroko 1, Ward 2 of Owo Local Government had placed a suspension on Anifowose, who is the daughter of the first civilian Governor of the old Ondo State, late Chief Michael Ajasin, for allegedly being involved in anti-party activities.

The same fate was slammed on Adojutelegan by the party in Arigidi Iye, Ward 1, Akoko North West Local Government.

Following the outcome of the primaries held on July 20, 2020, the duo had approached the court with prayers that the outcome of the primaries which produced Governor Akeredolu be upturned.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing in Akure, the state capital, Kalejaiye said the suspension of the leaders of the party was not done out of malice but failure for them to regard the party.

The spokesperson of the party added that their resolve to approach the court was not the reason for the action taken against them but the failure to explore and exhaust the internal mechanism of the party.

During the press briefing, the party also disclosed that “The State Exco also resolved that while the chapter is ready and willing to absorb politicians from other political parties that are set to join, we wish to make it clear that ‘nomadic politicians’ that have migrated back and forth to several political parties in Nigeria would not be admitted into our fold.”

The Adamawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked that steps be taken to avoid the killing of another northerner in the Southeast as such a repeat killing could spiral against Southeastern people in the North.

The party articulated its position to newsmen in Yola against the backdrop of the killing in the Southeast of an Adamawa indigene and member of the party, Barr Ahmed Gulak.

Chairman of the APC in Adamawa State, Ibrahim Bill, said the killing of Gulak was premeditated by those who had repeatedly targeted northerners in their region.

He insisted that Gulak’s killing was not political as Governor Hope Uzodinma inputted but the handiwork of IPOB, “judging from the video from the scene which shows some persons cheering and waving IPOB banner.”

“We, therefore, call on President, Muhammadu Buhari the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, to use the full might of the Federal Government to rein in the activities of IPOB and bring the killers of Gulak to book,”

Advising security agencies to decisively address the threat posed by IPOB to the security and unity of the country, the APC stressed the importance of bringing Gulak’s killers to justice.

They claimed nobody can predict what may result from the killing of Northerners in the South-East after now.

He asked stakeholders in the Southeast to seize the initiative by not giving up their space and voices to IPOB.

“We do not buy the idea that all stakeholders from South East have yielded their space and voice following the compliance by many in the region to the sit at home order issued by IPOB,” Bilal said, urging those who realize the danger that IPOB poses to the country, including people of the Southeast, to be courageous enough to speak up.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will be judged for the achievements of his administration.

The party said it was wrong to judge the President by propaganda, vowing to bring those trying to bring the government down to book.

Speaking at the party’s National Secretariat on Thursday in Abuja, Secretary of the APC caretaker/extraordinary convention planning committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe said plans to destroy the current administration would fail.

APC can win Anambra by showing Buhari’s achievements – Party Chieftain

Some disgruntled elements in the country, according to the party chieftain, were blackmailing and discrediting the government.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will be judged by security and other achievements. We should not analyse the achievements of this government based on blackmail,” he said.

“Those who are trying to take down President Muhammadu Buhari’s government through the backdoor, will not succeed.

“They are hyping up so that people will believe there is insecurity. They are organised to bring down the government of the APC. We will bring them to book, Insha Allah,” he said.

A few days ago, President Muhammadu Buhari had threatened to come down heavily on those who are trying to destroy his government.

The President pointed accusing fingers at secessionist groups in the South East, wondering what could be their reasons for destroying government facilities even when, according to him, his administration was working in accordance with the constitution.
